A weekend break-in has prompted Toronto police to issue a public safety alert.
Early in the morning on Sunday October 26, a man entered a woman’s ground floor apartment, in the Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard area, through an unlocked patio door.
It’s alleged she woke up to find the man in her bedroom with a knife, which he put to her throat, and put a finger to his lips indicating she should be quiet.
When he heard children from another residence wake up, he fled through the front door.
He’s been described as brown, late-30s, 5’6″, with a thin build and large eyes. He was wearing a dark leather jacket, and a scarf around his neck.
Police say residents should ensure their homes are properly secured at all times.
