A commitment by Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau is to pull Canadian CF18 fighter bombers out of the U.S.-led coalition bombing ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Trudeau has already called and informed U.S. President Obama of his decision. The Americans appear not to be too happy, although Trudeau has not indicated exactly when he’ll pull the planes out of the international mission.
How does a former U.S. military officer, prominent Muslim with family living in Syria view the decision taken by the incoming Canadian government?
Roy is joined by Dr. Zuhdi Jasser. He is the former U.S. Navy Lt. Commander, Founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, and author of A Battle for the Soul of Islam: An American Muslim Patriot’s Fight for his Faith. Dr. Jasser’s parents emigrated to the U.S. from Syria and he still has significant family living there. He describes to Roy what daily life is like in Syria.
