Toyota is recalling 6.5 million vehicles world-wide due to a defect with the power window switch on Yaris, Corolla and Camry models, including several others.
The recall affects approximately 2.7 million models here in North America, roughly 1.2 million in Europe and about 600,000 in Japan.
According to Toyota, the power window switch could possibly have been lubricated sporadically on the assembly line.
Officials at Toyota say, the defect could cause a short circuit and could melt or over-heat, likely leading to a fire.
Other models affected in the recall are the RAV 4, Highlander, Matrix, Sequoia, Tundra and Scion xB.
All vehicles involved in the recall were manufactured from January 2005 to December 2010.
