The Kansas City Royals dominated the Toronto Blue Jays 14-2 in game 4 of the the American League Championship Series.
The Royals now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
Kansas City chased knuckleballer R.A. Dickey early then continued to punish the bullpen. Dickey took the loss after being shelled for five runs, four earned, over 1 2/3 innings.
He gave up a pair of home runs among his four hits _ a two-run homer to Ben Zobrist in Kansas City’s four-run first and a solo shot to former Jay Alex Rios in the second.
The Royals scored 4 in the 1st and another 4 in the 7th.
It got so bad for the Blue Jays that in the 9th inning that they brought in utility infielder Cliff Pennington to pitch. It’s the first time a position player has come in to pitch in the playoffs in MLB history.
