York Regional Police are asking women to change their habits when walking in Newmarket.
A sexual predator is being sought after a number of sexual assaults. The last one occurred near the Upper Canada Mall at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Police think the man responsible has attacked multiple times before. In every case, the targeted women were groped.
All cases involved victims whose heads were tilted down, eyes glued to their smartphones. Some were wearing headphones as well. These women were essentially making themselves blind and deaf.
YRP is asking women to travel in pairs, and LOOK UP while they walk, so that they’re aware of their surroundings!
Is this eyes-down approach to society commonplace nowadays, with people paying more attention to what’s going on with their phones, and not what’s happening around them? Do you utilize all five of your senses when out in public?
