Should more Canadians be encouraged to obtain a gun permit and buy a gun or two for their home? Should Canada adopt a conceal and carry approach that is popular in some of the states south of the border? Do more guns make a country a safer place?
Here’s what happened recently across the border in Michigan.
46-year-old Tatiana Duva-Rodriguez of Clarkston, Michigan has been charged with one count of reckless use, handling or discharge of a firearm in an October 6 incident that saw her fire her gun at the tires of a truck piloted by two fleeing shoplifters at a Home Depot parking lot.
The 48-year-old gunslinger does have a concealed pistol licence, BUT, police argue that she may not have really had a reason to pull her weapon, as she wasn’t being threatened by the shoplifter, who managed to flee despite being the shooting.
Michigan requires a shooter to be in danger of death, bodily harm or sexual assault in order to lawfully use a weapon.
Anthony Harris and another Michigan man are accused of being the shoplifters. Read more HERE.
