With exactly one week to go until election day a couple of polls show the Liberal momentum may have Justin Trudeau as the new PM next Tuesday.
An Ipsos poll for Global news shows the Liberals would win a minority government taking 128 seats to the Conservatives’ 122. The NDP could hold the balance of power in parliament with 84 seats.
The poll has the Liberals leading with 37% support. The Conservatives trail by 6 points at 31% while the NDP continue to lose momentum sitting at 24%.
Much of the Liberal gains are thanks to a surge in Ontario where they are now projected to win 61 seats compared to the Conservatives with 44.
Ipsos found the Liberals would win most of the seats in the GTA. In Ontario they lead with 43% support while the Conservatives are second with 30% and the NDP are third at 23%. In the 905 the Liberals have a 12 point lead sitting at 48% while the Conservatives are at 36% and the NDP trails at 14%.
The Ipsos poll was taken over last week where 18,000 voters were polled.
Meantime an EKOS poll also shows similar numbers with the Liberals sitting in front with 35.6%, the Conservatives are in second at 31.1% and the NDP are in third at 20.6%.
