Honest Ed’s says 2 signs have been stolen from the exterior of the store at Bloor and Bathurst.
Staff estimate the signs are worth about $500.00. The hand painted showcard signs were painted by Honest Ed’s celebrity Sign Writers.
In March of 2014 people lined up for up to 8 hours to buy 4,000 of the one of a kind hand painted signs. In April in a one day sale buyers bought another 6,000 signs.
Police have been notified and security and surveillance has been stepped up at Honest Ed’s. Management says they’re pleased the signs are in demand but they caution that the persons taking them unlawfully will be charged.
The signage, photos and memorabilia of Honest Ed’s have become very collectible since the store has announced that it’s doors will close forever at the end of December 2016.
