The Toronto Blue Jays are adding Ryan Tepera to their post-season roster to replace injured reliever Brett Cecil.
Tepera, 27, has appeared in 32 games for the Jays in his rookie season over three separate stints with Toronto.
Cecil was injured during Friday night’s 6-4 14-inning marathon loss that dropped the Jays to 0-2 on the series. His left calf muscle was torn while tagging Napoli in a rundown that ended the eighth inning.
Speaking from Texas on Saturday, Cecil gave an update on his condition, saying “They told me my season was done, didn’t really give me a timeline.. just doing treatments right now, going to go cheer my ass off tomorrow.”
The Jays will be trying to stave off elimination tomorrow when the enter Game 3 against the Texas Rangers.
