This Thanksgiving weekend, hundreds of volunteers will be packing up food donations to distribute to families across Toronto.
However, the organization says they’re still seeking cash donations to reach its goal of $325,000. According to the charity, for every dollar donated, Daily Bread can provide one meal for someone struggling with hunger in the city.
The drive ends October 16 with its financial goal, and 225,000 pounds of food. As of Friday, October 9, 258,000 pounds of food was donated, with $235,000 raised in funds.
For those interested in making a financial donation, they’re welcome to visit Daily Bread’s website. Also, non -perishable food donations can be dropped off at any local fire hall. Most needed food items are peanut butter, canned fish, canned vegetables and fruit, rice, pasta, tomato sauce, canned/dried beans, baby food, cereal and formula.
