Dejected Blue Jays slowly streamed out of the Rogers Centre after their hearts were broken in extra innings. The Jays are now down 2-0 to the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series.
Hanser Alberto delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the top of the 14th inning.
The 2 runs were scored with 2 outs after a controversial video replay determining Rougned Odor was safe at second base. Replays showed his foot may have slid off the bag.
The news gets worse for the Blue Jays as reliever Brett Cecil suffered a significant tear in his calf and is likely done for the season.
Ben Revere gave the Jays their first lead of the series with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, but pinch-hitter Mike Napoli’s single off Brett Cecil tied it in the top of the eighth.
Josh Donaldson hit a solo homer in the bottom of the second.
Texas now takes a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series back home to Arlington for Sunday’s Game 3.
