Ontario’s Human Rights Tribunal has ordered a Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart to pay a woman $8,000 for racially profiling her.
The woman was falsely accused by an employee of shoplifting, and the Tribunal felt the woman was targeted because she was black.
An employee interrogated her and searched her bag without permission.
Employees of the store say it is a high-traffic area and frequently deals with theft.
Do you think this woman was targeted because of her race, or did the employees have a good reason to check her bag?
