Has Blue Jays fever spread too far, too fast? Read on and you be the judge.
Canadian Tire is closing their corporate office in Toronto on Friday just so employees can catch the Jays game, either at home, in a fine pub, or at the game, without having to fake an illness or family death in order to play hooky. Wonder how many Canadian Tire employees have tickets to the game?
Other Canadian Tire entities are following suit: Sport Chek’s head office and Mark’s head office, both in Calgary, are shutting down as well.
In all, 5000 employees will get the day off to watch Game 2 at 12:45pm.
Wonder if these same locations will close on election day, so that employees have a fair chance to fill out a ballot and exercise their democratic right?
Is this proof that we’re going overboard on the whole Blue Jays thing? Would this be more acceptable if it was the final game of the World Series, and not an early playoff match?
And is this fair to the men and women working the front lines at Canadian Tire stores? The higher ups in the company are given the day off, but not the staff on the floor?
