A TTC Supervisor has been fired over their involvement in an alleged benefits fraud scam.
Charges were laid by police in July against the owner and two employees of an Healthy Hit, an orthotics business in Wilson Heights which had been providing health care products and services to some TTC employees.
It’s alleged that receipts were provided to individuals by the company for claim reimbursement where no product or service was obtained or where receipt amounts were inflated.
Two investigations were then launched, an internal investigation by the TTC and a separate criminal investigation by police, the dismissal of the unnamed supervisor arising as a result of the commission’s investigation.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, The TTC says it takes the responsibility it has to protect public money extremely seriously, and will demand full restitution from anyone found to have defrauded its benefits plan.
The commission added that its likely more employees will face disciplinary action pending the outcome of the investigations but no criminal charges have yet been laid against any TTC employee.
