Field trips and open houses aren’t the only things on hold due to job action by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and support staff, including secretarial and janitorial staff.
The Peel District School Board has also cancelled breakfast programs, where money still needs to be collected by the school.
Food days where money has already been collected will continue as planned.
In a note sent home to parents, Tony Pontes, the Director of Education, says “We understand your disappointment—and we share it. However, I am sure you see the importance of our focus on keeping schools open, safe, and students learning. We will continue to monitor the job action’s impact on elementary students.”
