One of the city’s oldest building could become a mall in the next few years.
Next Monday the city’s Government Management Committee will consider a staff report that recommends converting Old City hall into “a retail centre that contains a mix of food service, leisure, event and civic uses.”
The 116-year-old building is currently a provincial courthouse.
A real estate brokerage firm analyzed the property and suggested a plan be implemented within five years.
The building was declared a National Historic Site in 1989 and was also proposed as the location for a potential city of Toronto museum.
