Canadian tenor Michael Burgess, who won audiences over with his role in Les Miserables and his renditions of O Canada, has passed away at the age of 70.
Burgess had been battling cancer for a number of years, and died surrounded by family and friends at a Toronto hospice.
The Regina-born theatre star played the role of Jean Viljean in Les Mis over 1000 times at Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre, and also acted in several television shows including Street Legal.
