Twelve. Million. Dollars.
That is how much money the province dolled out to promote the Pan Am Games this past summer.
Christine Van Geyn, The Director of the Ontario Taxpayers Federation tells AM640’s John Oakley Show that’s a ridiculous amount of money.
“Just to put it in perspective, last year the entire Government of Ontario budget for advertising was $30-million. So to spend 40-percent of that just to promote a two week event is pretty outrageous”. Van Geyn said.
She says to make matters worse, very little advertising cash was spent outside of the province; meaning the government was using taxpayer dollars to convince Ontarian’s the games were “a good thing”
