Another blitz on illegal parking during rush hour is on it’s way.
Mayor John Tory and Police Chief Mark Saunders made the announcement at Nathan Phillips Square this morning, saying they were giving the public two weeks notice of the crackdown which is set to get underway on October 5th.
According to Saunders, police will be ‘saturating’ the areas from Bloor street on the North, Dufferin Street to the west, the Don Valley Parkway to the east and Lakeshore Boulevard to the south.
John Tory saying ”We don’t tolerate this, this is not acceptable behavior in a city where we are trying to keep the city moving for social, economic and common sense reasons and if you do this, you will be tagged and you will be towed”.
The blitz marks the first crackdown on illegal parking since January, with both Tory and Saunders saying it was needed to combat growing complacency amongst drivers in the city.
60,000 vehicles have been tagged since January 6th with close to 12,000 vehicles being towed.
