Police have been saying gun violence is up all year but now they have the numbers to prove it,
Toronto police have released stats that show gun violence is up 77 per cent from this time last year.
Police say 286 people have been the victims of gun violence as of September 21. In 2014 there were 162 victims of gun violence by the same date.
The number of shooting this year are on par with 2012. That’s the year of the so called “Summer Of the Gun” where there were fatal shootings at the Eaton Centre and a Danzig Street barbecue.
As of Monday there are the same number of shootings in 2015 as 2012.
The total number of fatal shooting is actually down 10 per cent from the same time last year but the number of fatal stabbings is actually up 86 per cent over last year.
