Presidential candidate, Ben Carson, is pushing back against outrage over his comments regarding Islam made on NBC’s Meet the Press. Carson told host David Gregory that he would not advocate electing a Muslim president. He also said there was a “huge gulf” between the Muslim faith and “American values.” Carson’s campaign spokesman said Carson will likely reach out to members of the Muslim community in wake of the comments but said the interview should be “watched or read carefully.” The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for the Republican presidential candidate to withdraw from the 2016 campaign.
Should Carson drop out of the race? Was he speaking a controversial truth?
