It is becoming harder for people to climb out poverty according to the Daily Bread Food Bank’s annual Who’s Hungry report. Food banks are being pushed away from Toronto`s Downtown area despite being used 45 per cent more since the 2008 recession.
“The surprise for me was actually seeing the numbers,” says Daily Bread executive director Gail Nyberg. “There are services downtown. There is an infrastructure. But the further you get from downtown, the less there is.”
