The Federal Conservatives have announced that they will be advancing settlements for 10,000 Syrian refugees by September of next year.
There are close to five million Syrians and Iraqis who are believed to have left their countries over the past few years.
Immigration Minister Chris Alexander says Syrian refugees will now receive assistance from the Canadian government 15 months earlier than originally planned.
He also says that they will make sure that most of the refugee applications from both Iraq and Syria will be processed within a six month span.
The Liberals plan to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees by January 1st, 2016 and the NDP says they will get 10,000 refugees out of Syria by the end of the year.
