The man arrested in connection to a 2012 fatal “gas and dash” accident is appearing in trial on Saturday morning.
Max Edwin Tutiven, 42, was arrested last week after evading police officers for three years. His arrest happened just days after officers issued a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
44-year-old Jayesh Prajapati was killed after being struck by a vehicle in September 2012. Police allege that Tutiven was driving away, trying to avoid paying a $112 fuel bill.
Tutiven is facing charges of second degree murder. He also faces charges relating to separate incidents of gas theft in Toronto and Montreal.
