On Monday, members of The View were critical of a Miss America contestant who came out for the talent portion of the contest in her nursing scrubs – stethoscope & all. Miss Colorado – Kelley Johnson – had prepared a monologue about her work as a nurse and how there’s always one patient that reminds you of why you got into nursing. The View mocked her monologue and stethoscope, prompting nursing everywhere to tweet their anger & displeasure with The Views’ comments. Yesterday, they apologized – clarifying what they meant about their comments – saying they weren’t criticizing nurses, but that it wasn’t typical of the talent portion of the event. Was The View right in saying nursing isn’t a skill / talent?
