It looks like Andre Marin’s time as Ontario Ombudsman may be up.
Marin’s contract is finished on Monday and a consensus to name a new ombudsman couldn’t be reached.
House Leader Yasir Naqvi has sent a letter to his opposition counterparts asking for unanimous consent to have Marin’s deputy, Barbara Finlay, serve as acting ombudsman starting on Monday.
Marin was seeking a third five-year term in the post, but was up forced to re-apply for the job and was up against other applicants like Toronto ombudsman Fiona Crean.
An all-party committee of MPP’s could not agree on a candidate so they’ll be forced to go back to the drawing board and interested candidates will be asked to reapply.
