The Canadian Pediatric Society has updated its position on circumcision, clarifying both the risks & benefits associated with the procedure. They’re now saying they do not recommend the routine circumcision of every newborn male. While the gist of their position hasn’t changed much since 1996, the CPS says there could be good reason for the procedure in certain cases such as preventing UTI’s in young boys, prevent sexually transmitted pathogens like herpes simplex virus & HPV in older boys & adult males, all while protecting against penile cancer. What do you say? Is it better to snip or not to snip?
