Sleep expert Dr. Paul Kennedy, who is with the Sleep and Circadian Institute at Oxford University, suggests that forcing people to begin work at 9am is akin to TORTURE, and that such an approach is slowly killing us!
He argues that our circadian rhythm, our natural body clock, is thrown out of its rhythm by the regular 9 to 5 shift, and that our bodies don’t reach peak productivity and level of focus much later in the day.
Dr. Kennedy warns that we’re becoming a sleep-deprived society.
He wants to see standard start times in the office shifted to 10am.
Do you agree with this good doctor? Is your 9 to 5 shift slowly killing you? Do you start your shift earlier than 9am? How’s that treating you?
