Canadians are split on how Canada should be reacting to the crisis in Syria and surrounding countries.
A new Mainstreet/Postmedia survey found that 48% of Canadians would like to see a large increase in refugee resettlement. The same percentage also disagrees with our government’s current response to the situation.
Mainstreet president Quito Maggi suggested in a release that Canadians support resettling over 30,000 refugees.
A total 26% of Canadians believe NDP Leader Tom Mulcair would be most effective at handling this situation, with Justin Trudeau receiving support from 24% and Stephen Harper trailing at 21%.
Do you think the Canadian government is doing enough to help those fleeing death and destruction in Syria?
