It’s official. Mark Shapiro will soon be the president of the Toronto Blue Jays. The club confirmed Monday, Shapiro will replace longtime president and CEO Paul Beeston at the end of the 2015 season.
The 48-year old spent the past 24 years with the Cleveland Indians, the past five as club president.
Beeston has been with the franchise since its inception in 1976.
Beeston said in a statement that he was “happy to pass him the baton,” adding that he, general manager Alex Anthopoulos and the team have “a little more work to do.”
