Western University has faced accusations of cultural insensitivity. This year, native headdresses fake dreadlocks, Mohawks, bandannas, tank tops and short shorts are banned. In the past student leaders called Sophs had worn some of these items because it was tradition at Western. The Sophs were divided into teams and would wear some of the now banned items in order to stand out from the crowd. The planning committee has been getting complaints from students about wearing some of these items. Do you agree with Western banning these items, or is banning these items political correctness going too far?
