An horrific day for journalists at WDBJ7 in Virginia today after a reporter and camera man were shot and killed on live television this morning.
The two have been identified as reporter Alison Parker who was 24 and cameraman Adam Ward was 27.
The suspect was later identified as Vester Lee Flanigan, a former reporter who went by the name Bryce Williams.
He went on a rant on social media before attempting to take his own life. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, and later died in hospital.
He claimed on Twitter that the reporter, Alison Parker made racist comments and that the cameramen Adam Ward complained to HR about him.
He then posted 2 videos of the shooting from his perspective. The chilling video was quickly taken down from twitter and his account @bryce_williams7 was suspended.
WDBJ anchor Chris Hurst was dating reporter Alison Parker and he tweeted that he is numb. He said they had just moved in together and they wanted to get married.
Cameraman Adam Ward was was engaged to a producer at the station who was in the control room at the time of the shooting.
The station sent out a tweet with their pictures stating. “We Love You, Alison and Adam”.
