Crews have recovered the body of a man who drowned in a Brampton lake Sunday evening.
Peel police say it happened around 8 p.m. at Professors Lake near Bramlea Road and Bovaird Drive.
Officers say the man in his 20’s was walking along the water and somehow wound up in the lake. He was walking with a friend, who called 911 after he was unable to rescue the man himself. Police say others nearby also tried to help.
Police fire and marine units were dispatched late last night, but the body wasn’t recovered until Monday morning.
Family members have identified the victim as 22-year-old Satvar Singh.
The incident makes it the second drowning of the summer.
In May, a 40-year-old man also drowned after his 10 and 5 year old daughters slipped and fell in the water. The girls were rescued, but the father was swept away.
Officers are warning the public to use caution around lakes, and never swim in unsupervised areas.
