Some Doug Ford supporters are backing him as part of a new campaign.
They want the elder Ford to run to replace Conservative leader Stephen Harper if he falters in the upcoming election.
A group has set up a website called “Run Doug Run” and it urges the former city councillor to jump into federal politics.
On Friday Ford wouldn’t rule out running to replace Harper if he steps down as leader after the Oct. 19 election.
The website states that “Doug Ford represents the only true blue-values leader who can be an advocate for strong conservative values and connect with Canadian families from communities across the country.”
The site also lists three things Ford “must do” to help the Conservative Party. That includes introducing legislation based on “traditional conservative values, such as the traditional family,” minimizing gun control legislation, implementing a two-tier healthcare system and supporting “the introduction of legislation recognizing that life starts at conception.”
