For some drivers, the HOV lanes cost more than time. Police are releasing the numbers today, saying 2,115 charges were laid for misuse of the lanes between July 27 and Aug. 18.
Among those charges include one man who was caught trying to pass off two mannequins as passengers.
Officials say another 2,506 charges were laid for other Highway Traffic Act violations along the “Games Route Network.”
Tickets were handed out by the OPP, Toronto Police, and York Region Police.
The lanes were in place during the Pan Am Games, brought into effect for the athletes, coaches, trainers, workers and officials for the games.
The lanes caused a bit of controversy among Torontonians, especially after Premier Kathleen Wynne said the Liberals could eventually become toll lanes.
