General Motors Canada has plans to boost production for their Chevrolet Equinox at the assembly plant in Oshawa.
The manufacturing line at the plant was slated to close in 2016, but now the company says it will be extended until 2017.
The body shop at the Cami plant in Ingersoll, Ontario produces more Equinox bodies than it has the capacity for in order to finish painting. The unfinished bodies are now being sent to Oshawa, where they will be completed with paint and finished interiors.
The Oshawa plant also produces several other Chevrolet models such as, Buick Regal, Camaro, Cadillac XTS and Impala.
