Commuters travelling to downtown Toronto may be facing a new set of headaches at Union Station for the next few years.
The Bay Street concourse has closed at Union Station for renovations and repairs, from now until 2017. The last time the concourse received such drastic renovations was in 1979, and Metrolinx officials are saying that it is a ‘massive undertaking’, but is a necessary step to help update Canada’s busiest transit hub.
The renovations and expansions that are in the plans include expanded floor space, easier transitions between streetcars and subways, better access to the PATH, as well as new shops and restaurants. This is the last phase in the Union Station revamp that has caused commuters to be adaptable through these changes
