So far it hasn’t been raised in the leaders debate, but Tom Mulcair’s French citizenship should receive some public attention.
In order to become a citizen, Mulcair was required to apply for French citizenship, and was mandated to swear ‘lifelong allegiance’ to France. If he’s elected as Prime Minister, Mulcair has said he’ll get rid of his French citizenship. But if he isn’t elected, he will remain a citizen of France.
