A Pickering resident filed a noise complaint after some neighbourhood kids made some noise while splashing around in their backyard pool.
Residents have a right to enjoy their property undisturbed by their neighbours. But a study has shown physical activity is essential to a child’s healthy development.
The kids aged 7, 9 and 11 start their days with daycare, which ends at 4 p.m. and then go for sports at 6 p.m. During their two hour break, the kids take a dip in the pool.
The bylaw bans “persistent yelling, hooting, shouting, whistling or singing” that can be heard from inside another’s residence or business after 9 p.m. – so the children didn’t technically break any rules…
Would you make a complaint? Or would you let the kids have their fun? Are you one of ‘those’ neighbours?
