Not much expected on the federal campaign trail Wednesday as Harper, Mulcair, Trudeau and May are expected to keep a low profile in order to prepare for their first leaders’ debate Thursday night.
Advisers will prep the candidates on the issues, and staffers will impersonate rival party members in mock debates.
It’s very possible this will be the only debate that will include all four of the major party leaders. The Conservatives have hinted that leader Stephen Harper will not attend any other debates.
NDP leader Tom Mulcair has said if Harper does not attend any other debates, he will likely skip them, as well.
Meanwhile, Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe he will campaign in Quebec on Wednesday, as he was not invited to the debate.
