CBC personality Chris Hyndman of lifestyle show Steven and Chris has died, according to the public broadcaster.
Police say his body was found around midnight on Tuesday near near Broadview Avenue and Queen Street.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died,” Heather Conway, Executive Vice President of English Services, and Jennifer Dettman, Executive Director of Unscripted Content, said in a joint statement. “We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends and colleagues; our thoughts are with them all.”
Hyndman was 49-year-old. He co-hosted Steven and Chris with his life partner Steven Sabados.
It’s unclear at this time if his dead is being treated as suspicious. According to Global News, witnesses are not being sought in connection to the incident.
Steven and Chris has been pulled from CBC’s schedule.
The public broadcaster says a tribute area is being set up in the atrium of the CBC Headquarters at Front and John where fans can leave notes and messages of condolences.
