The weather agency says if strong weather approaches, seek shelter immediately and stay away from windows and skylights.
The storm is also causing a number of outages throughout Toronto and the GTA. Toronto Hydro says as of 7:30pm, around 1,000 customers were in the dark, expected to be restored around 10-11pm.
Hydro One says 38,000 residents are also without power. “Where safe, Hydro One crews are out assessing damage and starting repairs. It is expected that the number of customers affected by these storms will increase as the system continues to move across the province,” a statement from the agency reads. Restoration time is unknown at this time.
