Despite the antipathy between the two, Premier Kathleen Wynne has agreed to call a byelection in Simcoe North next week.
The election is to replace veteran MPP Garfield Dunlop who vacated his seat so that new PC leader Patrick Brown could run.
Brown had wrote an open letter to Wynne asking her to schedule a byelection so that he could be in the legislature by fall.
Wynne also took the opportunity to criticize PM Stephen Harper saying calling a federal election now would be a huge waste of taxpayer money.
I’ll call a Simcoe North by-election as soon as possible: next Wednesday, the first available date after Mr. Dunlop’s resignation. #onpoli
