The Arizona Cardinals introduced Dr. Jen Welter as a coach this week. This move is believed to be the first time a team in the NFL has hire a woman to coach.
This is a historic step, but, it’s important to note that Welter has only been hired as an intern, and the length of her employment is unclear. She may be a bit overqualified: she has a master’s degree in sports psychology and a Ph.D. in psychology.
Some have questioned whether a woman can lead men on a NFL team, seeing as no woman has ever played in the NFL. However, many male coaches never played for an NFL team either.
Do you believe men and women have different coaching styles? What do you make of a female NFL coach?
