Walter Palmer’s dental practice in Minneapolis has been closed since he was named as the tourist who shot and killed Cecil, Zimbabwe’s most famous lion.
Palmer thought the hunt was legal and was unaware Cecil was protected.
In a letter to his “valued” patients on Tuesday, the dentist said he had been in the news “for reasons that have nothing to do with my profession or the care I provide to you”.

Palmer has been a target of online shaming and has received several death threats since the story broke
Is online shaming and threatening bodily harm a sign of passion? Is it ever justified?
