Toronto Liberals will be deciding today whether or not they want former Conservative MP Eve Adams or lawyer Marco Mendicino representing them in the upcoming federal election.
The two are fighting for the Liberal nomination in the Eglinton-Lawrence riding, currently held by Conservative Finance Minister Joe Oliver.
Adams left the Tories over 5 months ago amid allegations of “dirty tricks” in a Tory Oakville nomination battle last year. She was personally welcomed into the Liberal party by leader Justin Trudeau, a move that angered some Grits.
Adam’s fiance Dimitri Soudas spent many years as a spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Soudas bought a Liberal membership ahead of the vote.
Marco Mendicino has been a longtime Liberal who has previously sat on the riding association’s executive. He’s also volunteered for a number of federal and provincial campaigns.
The vote will be happening between 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
