A Houston mother was charged with child abandonment after bringing her two children to a job interview at a local mall. Laura Browder sat her children, a six year old daughter and a two year old son, inside the food court and went to the interview also located in the food court. She said she was not more than thirty feet away from her children at any point and they were always in her line of sight. Upon returning to her kids, a police officer on the scene arrested her.
Is she guilty of abandoning her children? Is being thirty feet away too far away?
