Stephen Harper’s Conservatives have taken a large lead in the latest poll from Mainstreet Research.
The jump could be thanks to the distribution of $3-billion worth of child benefit cheques to parents earlier this week.
The Poll has the Conservatives leading with 38% of decided voters. Thomas Mulcair’s NDP were in second at 27% and Justin Trudeau’s Liberals were third at 25%.
It’s the first poll since Justin Trudeau was elected Liberal leader in the spring of 2013 that has had the Conservatives above 35%.
The Conservatives have been between 27% and 32% in the nine polls published in the last month.
