A judge has now ordered a second mental health assessment for Chieb Essegahaier after a plot in an attempt to derail a VIA passenger train.
He has been given another 30-day assessment under Ontario’s Mental Health Act.
The new assessment will be done by a psychiatrist selected by the Crown and they will examine Esseghaier’s mental state in regards to the issue of fitness at a sentencing hearing and in relation to any specifics of the sentencing.
Both Esseghaier and the co-accused, Raed Jaser were found guilty back in March for the terror-related conspiracy to commit murder.
The penalty carries a life sentence and there are also six other terror-related charges between them.
