City officials may already have a headache dealing with the UBER app, now another drivers APP “Rover” may add to the pain.
The Toronto start-up matches drivers with empty parking spaces posted by owners with room in their garages or driveways. Users simply download the app and register their credit card.
Co-founder Tim Wootton (WUH’-ton) says Rover’s prices are capped at two-dollars per hour to ensure the app is competitive with downtown Toronto parking.
“it’s a community based program and we’re looking for the help from people who have spots, want to share them and make a few bucks.
“We want to make it easier for driving into Toronto and across Canada.”
Rover has been downloaded more than one-thousand times already, and dozens of owners have posted parking spots across the city.
Officials with the City of Toronto say fines can be levied homeowners who rent out multiple spots on their driveways.
